Bentonite
Deep in the desert of Utah lies some of the most colorful hills in the world. Bentonite hills are residents to Capitol Reef National park, the most least visited national park in Utah. The average visitor will find little to none in the park but one with patience and an off-road vehicle will find some of the most stunning geological formations in the world. Find a high point once you arrive and you will find unique lining in the hills as well. The colors and lines aren’t the only interesting thing about this place though. These hills used to be covered with water in the Jurassic period. Mud, silt, fine sand, and even volcanic ash would deposit into the water and the bentonite clay would absorb these materials through the water and it would eventually turn into the most beautiful hills in the world.
